Oh, wow, just the thing for a foggy Monday morning. (Even though it is evening at the time of writing this – this band did kickstart my day earlier on)

Altarage from the Basque part of Spain play a “delightful” blend of crispy blackened death with a definite “avantgardy” flavour.

On their just-released MMXV demo (available digitally as well as on limited cassette (see links below)) they manage to sound at the same time like a breath of extremely fresh air, and infested with everything from maggots to unspeakable diseases.

Especially Vortex Pyramid has me salivating, with it’s cacophonic start, and its rhythmically (at times almost arhythmically) challenging parts. Definitely a band inviting us into new adventures in noise. And definitely a band I look forward to hearing a lot more from in the future.
