Back in 1985, after releasing the groundbreaking album Halber MenschEinstürzende Neubauten went to Japan, where they met and teamed up with director Sogo Ishii and made this equally groundbreaking cinematic reproduction of the album. To me, this was (and still is to this day) one of the most amazing attempts at transgressing the boundaries of the music-video format – and I find it’s a must see for anyone even slightly interested in the combination of music and visuals (and probably should be part of the curriculum at any art- or film-school – if it isn’t already).

Bonus: I actually just learned that this was re-issued on DVD in 2005 – so another item added to my Wishlist
